FAQs_
1. What do we mean by feminism?
At its core, feminism is the belief that people of all genders deserve to have equal rights and opportunities.
2. What is intersectionality?
Intersectionality is the acknowledgement that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression. To achieve gender equality for everyone across the gender spectrum, we need to use an intersectional lens to understand how different elements of our identity intersect and compound our experiences of discrimination and oppression. All inequality is not created equal.
3. What is a Feminists of_ chapter?
A Fo_ chapter is a local community group aiming to create a space for intersectional feminists to connect. Fo_ chapters drive change in their local area through community building and community organising, contributing to the wider gender equality movement.
4. Is Feminists of_ a space for women only?
Absolutely not! Anyone who identifies as a feminist and supports equal rights and opportunities for all genders is welcome to join or start a Fo_ chapter. With inclusivity and community at the heart of our organisation, our vision is to show the world that feminism is for everyone.
5. What do I need to get started?
We truly believe that anyone can do this. There are no specific skills or experience required to set up a chapter, just yourself and a determination to drive this movement forward with us! We create an inclusive and collaborative space where members of our community can support one another. If you don't know how to do something, we're here to help!
6. How do I find allies to join my chapter?
We’d suggest starting with your inner circle to form a core team who share the same vision and values! This could include your friends, your work colleagues, or even your neighbours! It’s also worth finding out what’s going on in your local area by connecting with community groups and organisations to grow your network and meet like-minded people.
7. Is there an age limit for starting or joining a chapter?
Currently, our age limit to start a chapter and to join a chapter is 18+.
If individual chapters would like to work with young people, please get in touch with us.
